GATE Program

The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program at Jackson supports student needs in the classroom through targeted differentiation. Differentiation is defined as the integration of depth, complexity, acceleration and novelty into the core curriculum.  Differentiation occurs in the adaptation of the thinking skill, process, or product during the learning experience, and is aimed and meeting the individual child's needs, interests and abilities. Students have opportunities to work with academic peers in a cluster, as well as with heterogeneous groupings.

Jackson teachers of GATE students participate in professional development in GATE regularly to support their continued understanding of pedagogical practices that meet the needs of Gifted students.
